Ireland came for behind to claim an 8-6 victory over England in tonight's U/21 international at the National Stadium in Dublin.
Garry Molloy, Gavin Keating, Jason Quigley, John Joe Joyce, Stephen O'Reilly, Ciaran McAuley, Patrick Corcoran and Joe Joyce had their hands raised in victory as the boys in green finished out the year on a high note.
Maurice Lally was stopped in the first round by Chris Binckhorn in the opening bout of the evening -  but Gary Molloy restored parity after earning an 8-5 verdict over Adam Whitefield.
However, the visitors edged ahead following Lee Woods win over Daniel Coughlan, while English captain Billy Morgan stretched England's advantage to 3-1 with a 23-3 win over Paul Nolan.
Dublin lightweight Gavin Keating reduced the deficit after recording a  well deserved decision over Joe Rogers, rocking the Parsons Cross fighter back into a neutral corner with a thudding left hook in the second frame en route to victory.
But Belfast's James Ferrin lost out to Craig Greenwood and  Larry Fryers lost to Craig Callaghan in the second light welterweight contest of the evening to leave the scoring at 5-2- to England.
Fryers gave it everything he had in this fur rounder which saw both boxers received public warnings in the fourth. However, Callaghan held out to record a hard fought win.
Finn Valley ace Jason Quigley reduced to arrears to two bouts at the expense of  Ben Falaja. Quigley was 3-0 up at one stage but Falaja went 4-3 ahead in the fourth before three stiff rights from Quigley sealed a 6-4 win.
John Joe Joyce then chalked up a hard fought 6-3 win over Thomas Jones, both boxers were tied at 1-1 at the end of the first but Joyce got ahead and stayed ahead to the final bell.
Donegal middleweight Stephen O'Reilly meanwhile, came from behind to level the overall scoring at 5-5 at the expense of Frank Buglioni of the Repton club in London.
O'Reilly was in top form in this contest, holding his ground in the face of some heavy ordinance from the Londoner to land some clean shots of his own, particularly in the third and fourth rounds when the bout was in the balance.
England's Mike Fielding and Ireland's Ciaran McAuley traded victories to leave the international tied at 6-6, McCauley taking a standing count seconds from the final bell of a hard hitting cruiserweight decider.
And Galway heavyweight Patrick Corcoran worked well behind his jab to edge Ireland ahead for the first time - and also ensure the hosts couldn't be beaten - after Karl Tiernaey retired injured in round four. Corcoran was 5-2 up.
Moate super heavyweight Joe Joyce sealed the win for Ireland with an impressive 12-2 victory Jack Radford.
