Ireland lost 7-4 to England in a thrilling junior international at the National Stadium in Dublin tonight.
Tom Stubbs got the visitors off to a positive start, but Gary Molloy restored parity for the hosts with a deserved win over Chris Blinkhorn.
Haroon Khan, a brother of 2004 Olympic silver medallist Amir, Michael Stephens, John Quigley and Tyrone McKenna then traded victories to leave the match tied at 3-3.
But England forged 6-3 in front after Antonio Counahan, Daniel Philips and Joe Hughes had their hands raised in triumph -Hughes edging out Jamie Kavanagh by the narrowest of margins, a 23-22 count-back win after both boxers were tied at 11-11.
Kirk Garvey extended the visitors advantage versus Matthew O'Sullivan before Bernard Roe claimed the final bout of the evening for Ireland after earning  a 12-9 verdict over Ryan Aston.

Irish flyweight Anthony O'Brien will meet Amir Khans brother Haroon as part of an eleven strong Irish squad versus England at the National Stadium in Dublin tomorrow night.
O'Brien, from the Baldoyle club in Dublin, meets Khan in one of eleven bouts at the South Circular Road venue just a few weeks after he was beaten 12-8 by Khan in Liverpool.
Irish champions, Tyrone McKenna, Jamie Kavanagh and Ray Moylett will also be in the ring against English opponents at the home of Irish boxing.
"England have named a strong squad for Dublin and we will have our work cut out. But the lads will be really up for this one and it promises to be a very exciting evenings boxing," said Irish coach Jim Moore.
In Olympic news, the Irish squad have a day off at their training camp in Vladivostok, Russia today. The squad return to training tomorrow with the Russian Olympic team.
The Irish squad leave for the Olympic village in Beijing on August 4th.
